캐나다 봄나물 캐기 (고비를 고사리로 잘못 알고 만든 비디오)

캐나다에서 나물캐는 일은 불법입니다. 한국도 마찬가지이겠지만요. 그래서 대놓고 할 얘기는 아닙니다. 하지만 봄이 되면 나물을 조금씩 캡니다. 일종의 봄맞이 행사같이요. 캐는 일이 즐겁기도 하려니와 봄내음 확 나는 나물무침이 입맛을 돋구니까요. 그리고 왠지 고향의 정취를 느끼게 해주기도 하기 때문이기도 합니다. 토론토 주변에 왠만한 나물은 다 있습니다. 제가 종류를 많이 몰라 상세히 열거할수는 없지만요. 그중에 고사리만 조금 특별합니다. 쉽게 발견되지 않습니다. 그런데 한 트레일을 하이킹하다 고사리 비슷한 고비 밭은 발견했습니다. 이번에 그 얘기해 보겠습니다

주의사당 앞 벚꽃구경

온타리오주 의사당 앞에 벚나무가 세그루 있습니다. 오늘 아내와 산책삼아 가보았더니 만개해 있네요. 지난 토요일 들렸을 때 봉오리만 맺혀 있었습니다. 그래서 오래 기다려야 할줄 알았는데 벌써 만개했네요

봄비 속의 Hiking

비가 오면 Hiking하지 않는 것으로 알았습니다. 일단 옷이 젖으니 불편할테구요. 그리고 아직 기온이 낮으니 추울테구요. 지난 주말에도 비가 내려 하이킹을 하지 말아야겠다 생각했었습니다. 그런데 아침에 비가 그치는 듯 해서 하이킹을 나섰습니다. 하지만 현장에 도착했더니 비가 내리지 뭡니까. 후회를 약간 하면서 이왕 나온김에 하이킹을 마치자는 생각에 트레일을 돌기 시작했습니다. 막상 돌아보니 빗속의 하이킹이 그리 나쁘지 않았습니다. 그 얘기를 해보겠습니다

Guild Park and Gardens

A beautiful sculptural garden located along the Scarborough Bluffs, Guildwood Park, was home to Rosa Breithaupt Hewetson & Spencer Clark, who were patrons of arts and preservationists. They acquired architectural remnants from lots of demolished buildings of early 2oth century and showcased it in the gardens. The Clarks sold the property to Toronto and Region Conservation Authority in 1978. The park known as The Guild, is also home to The Guild Inn, which was built in 1914. The Inn was in operation till 2002. Once a sanctuary to artists and artisans and the site of the innovative Guild of All Arts, the Guild covers about 88 acres; has gardens, and woodland trails. Rouge National Urban Park

Rouge National Urban Park is an ecologically protected zone in the Greater Toronto Area that encompasses much of the valleys of the Rouge River and Little Rouge Creek. A total of 79.1 km2 of land has been committed to the park, which straddles parts of the Ontario cities of Toronto, Markham, Pickering and the Township of Uxbridge. The historic area includes farmland, green space, wetlands and rivers alongside urban development, roads and highways. Established 15 May 2015 and managed by Parks Canada, Rouge is Canada’s first National Urban Park and the largest urban park in North America.

Rattray Marsh Conservation Area & Jack Darling Park

Rattray Marsh is an “environmental gem” located in a unique natural setting within the City of Mississauga . As the last remaining lakefront marsh between Toronto and Burlington , this environmentally sensitive wetland offers a different experience for nature lovers. Rattray Marsh is home to a variety of wildlife and plants and a definite must see for avid bird watchers, photographers and nature lovers. Jack Darling park is located by lake Ontario; the waterfront offers great fun for everyone all year around. The waterfront is fairly long, with rocky and sandy areas. It's not the kind of sand that you would find on a tropical island but it's not so bad either. The view from the beaches is spectacular: you can see the Toronto skyline t o the left and the endless blue horizon to the south. It is only by mid July when the water gets warm enough for fun swimming but many people (especially kids) go in earlier

Culham trail in Mississauga

Culham trail runs along the credit river inside Erindale Park in Mississauga. The trail is long and flat. It serves cyclist, walkers and joggers. It get busy on weekend and holidays. It is not paved, so need to wear suitable footwear. Many people fish along the trail, especially in the fall when salmons swim up the river. Great place to stroll, run and jog. This hidden gem in the very heart of the city is a must hike for everyone. In the fall you will see deer, foxes, and all sorts of birds as it winds along the Credit River. Good for all ages and abilities.. just pop on anywhere along the route.

Splitrock Narrows Nature Reserve

This hike boasts rocky outliers, steep cliffs, long views, a glacial spillway, and an impressive crevice system for which Splitrock Narrows is named. From the parking lot, follow the blue-blazed Splitrock Side Trail. The Trail starts along a farm pasture and slopes into a cool, moss covered crevice system (signed the Narrows Side Trail - a 105 m dead-end side trail following the floor of the Splitrock Narrows crevice. This feature was created by an effect known as cambering; a process that widens cracks into crevices through freeze-thaw action). 420 million year old crinoid fossils can also be found along the walls of the crevice. After exploring this dead-end side trail, continue on the Splitrock Narrow Side trail for sweeping fall colour valley views and a delightful passage through a beautiful example of prime Niagara Escarpment forest. When you reach the 2nd Line you can walk back to your car along the road, or loop back to the Narrows via the Ralph Tremills Side Trail and retrace your steps back to your car on the Splitrock Side Trail. How to get there: Splitrock Narrows Nature Reserve is 21 km north of Orangeville, east of Hwy 10 Near Mono Cliffs Provincial Park 1 km north of the 25th Sideroad, Mono, on the 2nd Line EHS.

Pretty River Valley Provincial Park

This park is the one of the highest point of the Niagara Escarpment. It includes meltwater channels, moraine and talus slopes. We visited there as part of our winter vacation. We booked a hotel in Collingwood to stay a night. Before we got to the hotel, we decided to take a walk in this trail. According to the website, there are many places we should visit. But we got there late in the afternoon. So we walked up only for an hour because we wanted to come back before getting dark. The trail was covered with snow, however we noticed it is very beautiful park. When it is warm we will definitely come back.

Blumination

The Blumination Dream Trail is a illuminated winter stroll in Blue Mountain Village. It is quite pretty so that you can enjoy walking through the lighted promenade. We went to Collingwood for one night-two days winter vacation. At the night we arrived, we visited the trail. It was an happy experience. I want to recommend you to visit there someday, While editing this video, it came to my mind how much I love my wife for no reason. So I put some words in the video what I like to say to my wife.,

Rouge Park is a unique wilderness setting in the midst of Ontario’s capital. Eataly Toronto is part of a chain of Italian food emporiums with over 35 locations worldwide, including this 50,000-square-foot outpost in the Manulife Centre at Bloor and Bay. You can find imported Italian products showcased alongside offerings from local producers, with an emphasis on sustainability, quality and education. Three floors encompass counters for pizza, seafood, meats, cheeses, baked goods, gelato and more. There's also several full-on restaurants, a cooking school and a basement brewery, beer bar and bottle shop by Indie Alehouse.

Although it is called “Toronto Pacific Mall”, it is actually located in a adjacent city, Markham, just a street across. It is said that 46% of the citizen in the city is Chinese ethnicity. Due to the background, almost all units are owned and run by Chinese-Canadian. And big part of visitors and customers are also Chinese ethnic group. But the second floor decorated as Chinese Heritage Town drew many tourist. Food court is an attractive factor for the tourist to visit the mall.

Kensington Market Winter Solstice 2019

30th Kensington Market Winter Solstice took place in Toronto last Saturday 12. 21. 2019. Thousands of people flocked to see opening ceremony at the intersection of Oxford St and Augusta. Big puppets, fire breathers and spinners and some bands paraded to Alexandra Park. Big fire performance was held at the park.

Don River Trail

Don River is a river run East of Toronto. There is a trail along the river. It is pretty busy with people running and cycling from spring to fall. But it is quiet in winter, We go there to walk only in winter.

China Town (군것질과 장보기)

특별히 갈곳이 없는 휴일에는 아내와 함께 토론토 다운타운에 있는 차이나타운을 갔다 옵니다. 집에서 걸어서 35~40분 정도 걸리는 위치에 있기 때문에 산책 삼아 갔다 오는 것입니다.지난 일요일도 둘이 다녀 왔습니다. 이번에는 유명한 만두집을 들러 간단한 간식으로 3불, 4불짜리 만두를 먹어봤습니다. 그리고 그로서리 쇼핑을 한 뒤 돌아왔습니다.
